This line includes studies that analyse employee participation in the company. These studies cover three areas of participation: the composition of capital, the decision-making process and the treatment of benefits.

Social and solidarity economy and social innovation
This line of research involves studying the dynamics and mechanisms developed by social economy organisations for local development, from the perspective of social innovation. We focus on specific projects created by the social economy to respond to local social needs and on governance models for the dynamics created in the territory.

Governance and law of social economy organisations
This line of research includes the study of the different aspects related to the law of social economy organisations. As well as analysing the regimes and legal regulations that govern the internal governance of social economy organisations, we also studied the existing regulations in the communities where these organisations are based.

Public policies to promote the social economy
This line of research includes the study of the public policies implemented by public agencies to promote the various social economy organisations. In addition to categorising the public policies for promotion both of the demand and the offer, we study the main mechanisms for promoting social economy at all levels in the public bodies of the BAC.

Globalisation and internationalisation of cooperatives
In this line we study the internationalisation processes and models of the Basque cooperative movement and critically analyse the tensions created by these processes and models in the main cooperatives. We reflect, firstly, on the role of transnational companies in globalisation processes and organisational models; and, secondly, on the labour relations implemented by transnational cooperatives. We also take a look at international cooperative experiences.

Este trabajo estudia y analiza la realidad de las diferentes familias que conforman la Economía Social en Euskadi: Cooperativas, Sociedades Laborales, Centros Especiales de Empleo, Empresas de Inserción, Cofradías de Pescadores, Sociedades Agrarias de Transformación, Mutualidades, Asociaciones y Fundaciones. Asimismo, se lleva a cabo un estudio del conjunto de la Economía Social en Euskadi y una referencia a la Economía Solidaria.
Para cada una de ellas se analiza su estructura jurídica específica, se aportan datos socio económicos actualizados, se describe su estructura asociativa, se incide sobre las ideas fuerza que les caracteriza y sus retos como familia de la Economía Social.
La obra se ha realizado con el patrocinio de la Dirección de Economía Social del Departamento de Trabajo y Empleo del Gobierno Vasco, el trabajo conjunto de las Universidades Vascas: Universidad del País Vasco, Universidad de Deusto y Mondragón Unibertsitatea. Asimismo ha contado con la colaboración de todas y cada una de las entidades representativas del sector de la Economía Social en Euskadi.
